04 SEPTEMBER – 17:30 VILLA DEGLI AUTORI
Presentation of the VOD – Video on Demand – web portal of The Open Reel, project dedicated to quality cinema, with a specific attention to queer movies; www.theopenreel.it, active from September 5th 2014, will start operating offering 3 movies: Bavo Defurne’s North Sea Texas (winner of the Alice Nella Città Award at the Rome Film Fest 2011), Stefan Westerwelle & Patrick Schuckmann’s Lose Your Head, and Chris Mason Johnson’s Test, both presented in the Panorama sidebar of the Berlin Film Festival.
Following, a wine tasting, with sparkling wines offered by Prodigio Divino (www.prodigiodivino.com): the audience will be offered two brands of Prosecco DOCG wine from Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, produced in vineyards terraced on the limestone of the high part: Vinocchio Prosecco Superiore, in straw yellow colour with intense glares and very fine perlage. It offers white pulp fruity notes, two, among many, are peach and pear, then candied orange flowers, linden and dehydrated flowers; and Uvagina Prosecco Superiore, a straw yellow colour wine, with glares and veins that tend to perlage and green extremely fine and persistent, it offers a bouquet that goes from acacia and hawthorn to violet.
“Vinocchio and Uvagina are twin wines, wanting to remind us, even during convivial moments, the cultural challenge of civil rights; two wines aiming at voicing the battles of lesbians and gay men for equal citizenship rights in our Country”.

The Queer Lion Award board, in the year of the presentation of the restored version in Venice of the movie Una giornata particolare (A Special Day), has decided, with the approval of the direction of 71. International Venice Film Festival, to bestow a Queer Lion of Honor to Ettore Scola’s masterpiece, because, regardless of its own artistic merits, the movie represents a true milestone for the international LGBT culture, and because in years when “politically correct” was still something yet to come, it managed to create a story centering on a dignified, positive main homosexual character, in an absolutely bold and unprecedented way for Italian cinema. Director Ettore Scola already stated he will joyfully accept the award, that will be handed out during the 71. Venice Film Fest; all the updates on www.cinemarte.it
