The film, which hit screens back in 2019, tells the dark story about affections and loyalties between prisoners during the political upheaval of Chile in the 1970s.<\/p>\n

It received an award at the Queer Lion Award at Venice Film Festival<\/strong>, despite the mature and explicit content.<\/p>\n

Amazon a receive a portion of the money earned by distributors who upload films to the platform themselves.<\/p>\n

However, The Prince’s distributor Peccadillo Pictures have reportedly violated Amazon’s content policy guidelines, which contain rules against \u2018sexually explicit content\u2019 and \u2018violent or graphic content.\u2019<\/p>\n

They are struggling to reverse the decision and Peccadillo MD Tom Abell told Deadline they do not understand the streaming service’s choice to ban the flick.<\/p>\n

“We are obviously very concerned and perplexed by Amazon\u2019s ruling”, he explained.<\/p>\n

“We have been trying to overturn their decision without avail and cannot understand why, when we have overwhelming support from all other platforms, they have taken this stance.”<\/p>\n

He continued: “We cannot deny that The Prince has some explosive and bold scenes but this is what makes it stand out and is such an enjoyable and admired film.<\/p>\n

“It certainly contains nothing that hasn\u2019t been seen before in a prison drama and pales in comparison to scenes in many of Amazon\u2019s own productions.<\/p>\n

“We are something of a loss to explain the situation.”<\/p>\n
