Monica, a trans woman, returns to her hometown in the Midwest for the first time in years, to take care of her seriously ill mother. Reuniting with her and the rest of her family, from which she had distanced herself as a teenager, Monica embarks on a path through her pain and fears, her needs and her desires, finding the strength to heal the wounds of her own past.
Monica is the intimate portrait of a woman who explores the universal themes of abandonment and acceptance, redemption and forgiveness.
