IVAN STEFANUTTI – PRESIDENTE DI GIURIA
Ivan Stefanutti, born in Udine, worked as director, costume designer and art director for the biggest opera houses both in Italy and abroad, from Teatro dell’Opera in Rome to Opèra Comique in Paris, to Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice. Designed costumes and scenes for Ugo Gregoretti’s movie “Maggio musicale” (1989). His are the theatrical version of “The Woman in Red” (2003) as well as the sumptuous rock opera “Metropolis” (2001), from Fritz Lang’s movie. The influence of the seventh art is often very visible in his works, with clear references, quotations and homages: in “Les contes d’Hoffman” (1997), the influences of German expressionist cinema, particularly Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, are quite clear; “Aida” (2001) references fantasy movies and series such as “Star Wars” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation”; in “Adriana Lecouvreur” (2002) the setting is moved to 1902 and pay homage to silent cinema and especially to italian silent movie diva Lyda Borelli; “Rigoletto” (2005) strongly uses references to paint and Peter Greenaway’s cinema; “La Bohème” has a 1930’s setting and plays with Marcel Carné’s and Jean Vigo’s works. In 2004, for “Le donne di Puccini” with Placido Domingo, Stefanutti tests a new technique of videoprojections in order to develop spaces and scenes on the stage; the very same technique has been used in “Tosca” (2010), leading to an unbelievable interaction between live actors and virtual spaces.
ROBERTO CUZZILLO
Roberto Cuzzillo was born in Turin in 1983, in 2005 he created the publishing house Enzimistudio who produced some of his works, among them “Made in Bosnia”, a documentary commissioned by the City of Turin and the Norwegian and Bosnian Red Cross, with young emerging talents from France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Bosnia and F.Y.R.O.M., and the short film “Lygofobia”, presented at Venice Market during the 64th Venice Film Festival. In 2008 he produced and directed his first feature-length film “No End” which was presented in several international festivals and distributed in Germany and France. At the moment, he is about to finish the shooting of his last movie, “Camminando Verso”, produced by the above mentioned Enzimistudio and by Fabrizio Sapino’s Sap11.
DANIELE SARTORI
Daniele Sartori, Venetian, born in 1970, graduated as an actor at the Accademia Teatrale Veneta. He particularly took a deeper dive into the cinematographic field of the short film, which is the sector he prefers, writing, producing and directing his first work entitled “Magma” in February 2007. There have been many contributions and collaborations in the indipendent cinematography sector from Venice and Milan. In 2008 he started cooperating with directors Enrica Cavalli and Marco Zanelli. He established with them and with director Damiano Bertazzo the production company Lost in Vauxhall for producing exclusively short films. In 2009 he was author and director of “Ora scelgo io”, “Una sorpresa” and the director assistant of Marco Rizzo’s short feature film “Amore liquido”. In 2010 he wrote and directed “The Appointment”, a short film set in Venice, availing himself of director’s of photography Flavio Zattera collaboration and played by actors Leonardo Santini e Tommaso Minniti.
