Queer Lion 2017: jury meeting and deliberation on September 7th

Venezia 74, Palazzo del Cinema

The jurors of Queer Lion Award 2017, Brian Robinson, Adriano Virone, Rich Cline, Daniel N. Casagrande e Marco Busato, will meet in Lido di Venezia, in the afternoon of September 7th, to discuss and decide the best LGBTQ movie presented during the 74. International Venice Film Festival.

After watching all the movies submitted by the different selecting commissions, Queer Lion confirms that are still competing for the Award the following 7 titles:

Una famiglia by Sebastiano Riso (Italy, 105’)
Marvin by Anne Fontaine (France, 115’)
The Prince and the Dybbuk by Elwira Niewiera, Piotr Rosołowski (Poland, Germany, 82’)
Martyr by Mazen Khaled (Lebanon, 80’)
Il contagio by Matteo Botrugno and Daniele Coluccini (Italy, 110’)
Les garçons sauvages by Bertrand Mandico (France, 110’)
Team Hurricane by Annika Berg (Denmark, 94’)

Given the marginality of LGBTQ themes and characters, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri by Martin McDonagh (Usa, Uk, 110′) and Ammore e malavita by Manetti Bros. (Italy, 133′), are therefore no longer competing for Queer Lion Award.
