The 17. Queer Lion Award – collateral award of the 80th Venice International Film Festival, ideated in 2007 by Daniel N. Casagrande – has been awarded to Domakinstvo za pocetnici (Housekeeping for Beginners) by Goran Stolevski (presented in Orizzonti).
Motivation:
“Queer families are not the future; they are the present!”. With this statement, the director commented on the extraordinary, moving and warm welcome from the Venice audience after the screening of his movie.
For the unusual and bold portrayal of ethnicities, diversity, gender identity, loves, friendships, emotional affinities, the Queer Lion is proud to award Domakinstvo za pocetnici (Housekeeping for Beginners) by Goran Stolevski.
