16. Queer Lion Award: films in competition

The line-up of the 19 titles competing for the 16. Queer Lion Award is possible thanks to the direct and precious collaboration of the different selection committees of the Venice International Film Festival.

All films with a duration of 30 minutes or more, with relevant LGBT themes and characters, are eligible for the Queer Lion Award competition.

For the 2021 line-up, special thanks go to:

The jury will be presided by journalist and film critic Rich Cline.

Rich is a London-based journalist who covers film weekly for a variety of outlets, from BBC Radio to Boyz Magazine. His review site Shadows on the Wall was launched in 1995 as the UK’s first ezine. He is chair of the London Film Critics’ Circle and a member of Galeca: Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, Fipresci and OFCS. He has served as a festival jury member and has covered major events on every continent. Originally from Los Angeles, he grew up in Ecuador and has lived in Britain for more than 30 years.

Rich Cline will coordinate the jury whose members are part of the Board of Queer Lion Association: journalist and film critic Daniel N. Casagrande; Marco Busato, collaborator and correspondent for Radio Capodistria; cultural operator and LGBT activist Jani Kuštrin; cultural animator and LGBT activist Adriano Virone.

Award ceremony on Friday, September 9th. Time and location to be defined.
